Follow the scenic trail through northern Kerala on this eight-day tour of coast, hills and culture. Begin at Calicut on the Malabar coast, climb to the waterfalls and caves of Wayanad, continue to the magnificent seaside fort at Bekal, and finish in Kannur — the heartland of the spectacular Theyyam ritual art form.
Away from the busier southern circuits, this route reveals a quieter, culturally rich side of Kerala across four distinct destinations.
Itinerary
Day 01 — Arrival in Calicut
On arrival at Calicut Airport, our representative greets you and transfers you to your Calicut hotel. In the evening, enjoy a relaxing visit to Kozhikode Beach to witness the sunset and the calm coastal atmosphere. Overnight in Calicut.
Day 02 — Calicut to Wayanad
After breakfast, check out and drive to the hill station of Wayanad (approx. 85 km / 3 hrs) through the scenic Western Ghats. Stop at the Lakkidi View Point and the historic Chain Tree, then check in to your resort and relax amid tranquil surroundings. Overnight in Wayanad.
Day 03 — Wayanad Sightseeing
After breakfast, enjoy a full-day tour of Wayanad — the ancient Edakkal Caves, the serene Pookode Lake, the beautiful Meenmutty Waterfalls, and the historic Jain Temple. Return to the resort in the evening. Overnight in Wayanad.
Day 04 — Wayanad to Bekal
After breakfast, check out and drive to Bekal (approx. 170 km / 5 hrs), one of Kerala’s most beautiful coastal destinations. Visit the iconic Bekal Fort — the largest and best-preserved in Kerala — with sweeping Arabian Sea views, then relax at Bekal Beach for a peaceful sunset. Overnight in Bekal.
Day 05 — Bekal Sightseeing
After breakfast, explore around Bekal — the serene Kappil Beach where backwaters meet the sea, and the riverside Chandragiri Fort with panoramic views of the Chandragiri River. Spend the evening at leisure by the beach. Overnight in Bekal.
Day 06 — Bekal to Kannur
After breakfast, check out and drive to Kannur (approx. 90 km / 2.5 hrs). Visit the historic St. Angelo Fort overlooking the Arabian Sea and relax at Payyambalam Beach. Check in and enjoy the evening at leisure. Overnight in Kannur.
Day 07 — Kannur Sightseeing
After breakfast, explore Kannur’s cultural and natural attractions — Muzhappilangad Drive-in Beach (India’s longest), the Arakkal Museum, and the Parassinikadavu Sri Muthappan Temple. In season, witness the vibrant Theyyam performances, a unique ritual art form of North Kerala. Overnight in Kannur.
Day 08 — Departure from Kannur
After breakfast, check out and transfer to Kannur Airport/Railway Station for your onward journey — with wonderful memories of North Kerala’s beaches, hills, culture and heritage.

FAQ
When can I see Theyyam performances in Kannur?
The Theyyam ritual season traditionally runs from around October to May, centred on temple festivals. Sightings depend on the local calendar; we time the Kannur leg to give you the best chance but cannot guarantee a performance.
Which airports does this tour use?
The tour begins at Calicut (Kozhikode) Airport and ends at Kannur Airport, both well connected domestically. This open-jaw routing avoids backtracking; we can advise on flights.
Is this itinerary a lot of driving?
There are a few longer drives, notably Wayanad to Bekal (about five hours), but they pass through scenic country and are broken up with stops. The overall pace remains comfortable.
What meals are included?
Daily breakfast and dinner are included throughout. Lunches are not included, leaving you free to explore Malabar’s renowned cuisine.
